Crossdressers (as “transvestites”) are almost always heterosexual men who get a thrill out of wearing women’s clothing. Many find it a sexual turn-on to be dressed — flamboyantly or not — in women’s clothing. Typically (though not always) crossdressers wear a wig, high heels, and gobs of makeup. They may or may not attempt to dress fashionably (usually not in my personal experience in seeing many thousands of them).
Transgender men and women, on the other hand, aren’t sexually aroused by wearing women’s panties, leggings, stockings, tights, women’s shoes, or any number of other crossdressing/transvestite fetishes.
When asked, crossdressers typically insist (and very vocally I might add) that they are STRAIGHT - and God forbid should anyone think of them otherwise. They are always prepared to return to their traditional heterosexual male clothing and strip the often overdone makeup off of their faces.
Transgender folks aren’t sexual aroused by their underwear, in much the same way that hetero males aren’t sexually aroused by putting on a tie and jacket in the morning.
Being transgender and dressing like the gender one identifies with feels natural, normal, and there is typically no arousal at all when getting dressed for the day.
I am transgender myself. I live like a typical cis woman lives her life (typical in the sense that I am living my trans life full-time, as many hetero cis women are living their own lives).
There’s a huge difference between wearing women’s clothing, makeup and a wig as a lark… or a turn-on… or an attention-seeking behavior vs. being trans.
I, on the other hand, am content to blend in with other women. Being transgender doesn’t involve grandstanding for me, nor do I employ shock tactics to get attention in public spaces. For me, what I’m doing feels normal and not erotic. In other words, I am just wearing “my clothes”. Crossdressers are definitely NOT just wearing “their clothes”. They are appropriating clothing from women.
